What to I need to run the test?
Unzipping software – preferably Winzip that I used (free fully operational demo at www.Winzip.com. Windows95 and Excel (95 or higher). For Alternative – you need picture viewer (even can use your browser).  Back to Questions
Which download should I choose?
If you have high-speed Internet connection (Cable or DSL) you should be able to use “single file” download and complete in a matter of seconds. If you have 56K or slower modem – “single file” download may take significantly longer. Typically, your Internet browser will show how much time left until complete. Wait at least 10-20 seconds before checking this as browser needs time to make an accurate estimate. If you have failed “single file” download due interruptions and/or disconnections, not to worry – try multi-file download with 3 files all well under 1MB. While in total download for all three files you will spend a little more time than with single download, you are almost certainly succeed against any interruptions and/or disconnections. Why is there Alternative Download (C)?
Some people can’t run the test due to the older Windows/Excel version or other system issues. They can separately get Diagrams (from downloads A or B), questions and place to store answers (both from download (C). If you have this problem – check carefully ReadmeFirst_Alt.doc after downloading for all the instructions Back to Questions
What is the best way to download and unzip?
Select 1 or 2.
1. Run from the site – double click on the file(s) and select “run from the site” option and let it download into the folder C:\chesstest\ or C:\chesstest\test1. If you don’t have such a folder, most likely it will be created automatically. Otherwise, create it yourself before downloading.
2. Save file(s) to your newly created folder – either by double clicking on the file and selecting “save” or by clicking “right” button on your mouse and choosing “Save as” option to C:\Chesstest\ or C:\Chesstest\test1 and unzip by
           A. Double Click on Test.zip file and unzip it into C:\Chesstest\ or C:\Chesstest\\test1 OR
           B. Click “right” button on your mouse and select either “Extract to ….” Or even better “Open with Winzip”. Then use extract option in Winzip to C:\Chesstest\ or C:\Chesstest\test1. Back to Questions
After unzipping I can’t find where the Test is stored?
Close and then open again your Windows explorer or any other File Navigator. Go to C:\ChessTest. If you still don’t see it – try search in your Windows explorer or any other File Navigator for “chesstest“ in the “C:\” and “subfolders”. If you still can’t find it – you probably didn’t unzip it yet. Try Unzip step again. Back to Questions
How do I run the test?
Check carefully ReadmeFirst.doc for all the instructions and then select Test1.xls in either Excel or Windows explorer or any other File Navigator. Make sure you enable the macros. Back to Questions

You can’t run my test model if you set Macro disabled to true. You can either
enable macros or will have to use Alternative test. Back to Questions

When taking the test, I don't see all four choices, why? Couple was reported so far. This is NOT an Excel problem, but your screen setup. To fix, you must change your screen resolution! Check your display's option and make changes! Go to "Control Panel" - "Display" - "Settings". And try different resolution options. Back to Questions

When I open the test - I've got "Error #76" "Path not found.." Why? It is due to improperly installed picture files. Please check the Readme file for more info about unzipping, but in short- After unzipping - in the "chesstest\test1\" folder you should have a subfolder "pics\" with 128 *.jpg, *.bmp etc.. files.

ALSO try the following - Start the Test.xls by opening it in Excel instead of doeuble clicking in the Windows File Manager Back to Questions

I see the same Diagram for several questions or questions make no sense since they don't relate to the diagram, why? This is an Excel Error reported by several users. For some reason Excel doesn't refresh the picture. This is not a Test Error, thus can't be avoided, but the solution is easy. Simply exit out of the test and then come back. The diagram should be correct one! Back to Questions
